Our History |
The Maricopa Domestic Water Improvement District (MDWID) was formed by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors on July 21, 1986 for the purposes of acquiring the assets of the only private water company in Maricopa at the time. The district pursued loans and grants through USDA Rural Utility Services to correct the water system deficiencies. The area served by the water district was declared a Colonia in February, 1998 by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors. Maricopa DWID operates and maintains its domestic water infrastructure and treatment systems in the area now also known as the Heritage District of Maricopa. In November 2017, Maricopa DWID & New Saddleback Vista DWID approved the merger of the 2 Districts to become Maricopa Consolidated Domestic Water Improvement District. In November 2020 Election, Valle Escondido DWID merged with Maricopa CDWID. The Saddleback & Valle Escondido neighborhood residents now pay the lower water rates and tax levy rates as MCDWID customers. |
